How do we get from here To There?
Pre School through High School
Summer Academic Enhancement Program
July5-July22, 2005
Students
Come take a trip, right to Simmons Elementary School in Horsham! We
invite you to participate in a summer program where fun and learning collide for
three great weeks. Each group of students will work together on great
projects. You will sharpen skills needed back at school and in the real world.
To add to the fun, you'll investigate your groups topic in depth during a field
trip to a great area location. We hope to see you there!
Parents
You are invited to register one or more of your school-aged children to take
part in an exciting educational enrichment program offered by the LaSalle
University Graduate Education Program with the cooperation of the
Hatboro-Horsham School District. This year our theme is How Do We Get From
Here To There? Our inclusion model welcomes students with disabilities as
well as their siblings without special learning needs.

Additional details
Simmons Elementary School is located at 411 Babylon Road, Horsham, PA. Students
are to be dropped off and picked up only at the area designated for this program
since other activities may be going on in the school building.
Each class will be co-taught by 3-4 graduate education students under the
supervision of a certified teacher. This teaching team will develop
interdisciplinary instruction based on our theme. Classes are limited to
10-12 students.
Additionally, each student will meet for 45 minutes each day in smaller groups
of two or three students where specific learning goals -- such as those listed
on the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) -- can be addressed. The
student's™ program will also include discovering learning styles, career
exploration, study skills and more. A school nurse is on duty each day.
Our elementary program serves Pre-K (4 years old) through 5th grades. The
middle and high school program serves students from 6th through 12th grades.
Elementary students are grouped by grade levels as follows (based on
just-completed grades):
∑ Pre-Kindergarten first (3 classes)
∑ Second/third (3 classes)
∑ Fourth/fifth (2 classes)
Middle and high school students are grouped 6th – 8th and 9th –
12th.
Registration materials will be mailed to you from Hatboro-Horsham School
District. We limit the number of participants, so we encourage interested
families to register as soon as possible.
A Family Fun Night will be held on June 29th at Simmons Elementary School to
acquaint your family with the program and to finalize your participation
materials. Refreshments will be served. The details about this
important event will be mailed to registered families.
